Aight so I completely came up with two new gem OCs all over a thought I had. It all started with this.

--

This is how I created these two big emerald girls you see before you. It's now my idea that my personal Eme is a lot weaker than other emeralds, due to being made in Beta. She's also a lot more of a blue-hued emerald, which may be considered off-colour. I'm not so sure yet.

I need to come up with nicknames for these two so I can distinguish them. I've been working more on their personalities. More about the beryl buddies:
- They are always with each other when they can be; they get separation anxiety
- They can smell fear and pick on THE WEAK
- These emeralds are captain status, and tend to feel mightier-than-thou
- THEY ARE PARTNERS IN CRIME and love to mess with other gems and blame it on somebody else
- While Eme has sharp arrow-like markings on her body, the two beryls have more of a cheveron pattern with their markings
- Eme is so done with their shit THIS ISN'T LIKE THE ADORABLE FAMETHYST
- yeah of course they're gay for each other and they show affection in a rough and aggressive way

Okay so they're called Beryl Buddies, but emeralds were called smaragdos in Greek, and I can't help but think of "dos" as in Spanish for "two"...
Smarag-dos beryl buddies, mixing languages is fun~

Emeralds which gets their colour from chromium are considered "real emeralds", and seems to be more blue-hued, so I wouldn't really call them off-coloured. Speaking of which:
Considering the one to our left have more blue-ish hair, maybe she could have a nickname based on chromium? (Chromé? Emium? Chromerald??) And the other one could have a nickname based on vanadium, which seems to create emeralds with less of a blue hue? (Vanaeme? Emeradium? Smaradium??)

Sorry I just love gemstones and gemsonas and I'm gonna shut up now.

omg no please I love using clever names like that. I was about ready to endlessly browse Wiki pages to gather terms that were scientifically accurate yet vague enough to sound cool?

i think we definitely getting closer now

*flails happily with my hands* I'm glad you liked it too~!
But if you want to look up some info about emeralds or any other mineral/gem for that matter, then I recommend minerals.net and mindat.org, those are reliable websites! And if I recall, gemselect.com have some interesting and fun facts too, besides the jewelry they sell.

Just thought I'd throw it out there x)

You have a very soft + crisp way of rendering things and I love how you stylize hair! Admittedly I know nothing about SU, but I enjoy gem ocs from afar
